Hamzeh and His Family All Suffer from Health Issues, but You Can Help Him Manage His Autism and Live a Fuller Life

Unfortunately, Hamzeh’s family can't afford special needs education, yet Hamzeh is in dire need to continue his learning at the center as it has had a great impact on his behavior, cognitive abilities, physical wellness, and social skills. The genetic testing will also help diagnose the genetic status of family members in order to better create a thorough treatment plan and determine future health implications.

HAMZEH’s STORY

Hamzeh was diagnosed with autism since he was very young and his wellbeing is extremely dependent on his enrollment into a special autism education program - in which he has been enrolled for 7 years since 2015. Ever since his enrollment, he has shown a drastic improvement on all fronts. For example, Hamzeh began understanding language and words as well as started to distinguish between dangerous situations and neutral ones, which is crucial for his safety as it was compromised in the past. Generally, children with autism are hyperactive and need space to play in an outdoor environment. Hamzeh’s education was sponsored by a generous donor for 6 years until the COVID pandemic hit - in which he was no longer sponsored. Hamzeh is now at the risk of losing his education and (God forbid) relapsing again.  

Hamzeh's family members all suffer from various health complications due to hereditary issues. His father is a day laborer who suffers from fatigue due to his health issues and can barely cover his family's needs. The family consists of three children and their parents. The mother suffers from a type of multiple sclerosis (MS), while the father has diabetes and suffers from macular edema, eczema, and congenital deformation at the bottom of the skull which greatly hinders his ability to work consistently. Being a day laborer, Hamzeh’s father faces a lot of instability and payment deductions as he often misses work to accompany his children to the hospital, or stay home in bed because of his own health issues.
